George J. Chehanske Esq. is an attorney at Weinberger Divorce & Family Law Group, LLC. Mr. Chehanske’s distinguished legal career spans over 40 years concentrated in matrimonial and all aspects of family law, including matters related to child custody, parenting time, divorce, child support, alimony, division of assets, and domestic violence. His love of family, the law, and his burning desire to help people during trying and difficult times drives his unwavering commitment to guiding his clients through their legal matters with the least amount of stress and conflict as possible.

As a family law specialist, Mr. Chehanske draws from his vast skill and experience in divorce and family law mediation, collaborative divorce, negotiated settlements, and all aspects of litigation to help his clients resolve their disputes in a dignified and respectful manner. Mr. Chehanske will always pursue lower conflict resolution whenever possible, and will passionately advocate for his clients should litigation be required. Mr. Chehanske prioritizes helping his clients make wise choices that safeguard their rights, children and future.

George Chehanske has served for decades as a family law mediator as well as an Early Settlement Program panelist in both Monmouth and Ocean County. Mr. Chehanske has been involved in Collaborative Law movement in New Jersey since its inception, and directly helped in the Legislature’s passage of the NJ Family Collaborative Law Act, making this low-conflict settlement more widely available to New Jersey residents.

Mr. Chehanske is admitted to the New Jersey Bar and the New Jersey District Court Bar. He is a New Jersey Supreme Court approved family law mediator, a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Law professionals and the New Jersey Collaborative Divorce Professionals serving Monmouth Ocean and Middlesex counties. He is also a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Monmouth County Bar Association and its Family Law Committee and the Ocean County Bar Association. Mr. Chehanske is a longtime volunteer panelist in the Family Courts Early Settlement Program.

Mr. Chehanske received his Doctorate in Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law. Early on in his career, he gained valuable experience in diverse areas of the law which included representing NJ State Agencies such as the Mercer County Improvement Authority and the Mercer Metro Bus System. Mr. Chehanske then returned to his hometown in Freehold to open his own law practice. For over two and one-half decades, Mr. Chehanske handled all the Family law matters, as well as all the Civil and Criminal trials for the firm, was appointed and served as the Prosecutor for the Township of Howell and represented clients such as US Homes in their arbitrations/litigation in Central New Jersey.

George Chehanske resides in Howell, New Jersey with his wife Kathy. He has two adult children, a daughter, a son, and 3 beautiful grandchildren.  George is a personal health enthusiast, an aquarist, and a lifelong martial artist.
