Please scroll to the end of this post for more photos from today’s GO BLUE event!

Weinberger Divorce & Family Law Group, LLC is proud to support CASA’s GO BLUE campaign in support of New Jersey’s Child Advocate Day, this Friday, April 7. We applaud CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for the extremely important work they perform on behalf of children who have been abused and neglected. In addition to wearing blue in a show of support for CASA throughout all our offices, and making a firm-wide donation, we are taking time today to raise awareness about the vital work this organization performs in our state.

Want to learn more about CASA? Here is some information to get you started:

CASA is a non-profit group of volunteers who train to become special court advocates for children who have been abused or neglected, and placed in the foster care system. Their goal is to ensure that all of these children are placed in safe, loving and appropriate homes and not left to languish in unstable or inappropriate facilities. They speak on behalf of these children in the family courts, and advocate for the best possible placement for kids, and for needed services. As family law attorneys who regularly represent families in crisis, we understand fully the value of and need for the wonderful advocates at CASA of New Jersey and all across the United States.

CASA’s GO BLUE campaign helps to raise awareness and also additional funding for the group, which relies on corporate and individual contributions to survive. The small federal and state grants they receive simply do not go far enough to cover all of the program’s needs. The GO BLUE campaign is a dress down day at the office where wearing blue jeans or any other blue item of clothing indicates that you are behind the organization’s mission and standing up to end child abuse and neglect across our nation. In exchange for wearing blue or blue jeans to work that day, employees make a donation to CASA.

According to David Hieb, Board President of CASA of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, “Going Blue for CASA in April is a way for us to raise awareness of the hardships these children face and highlight the roles that advocates, and all of us, play in helping these children succeed.” In an interview with the Cape May County Herald, Mr. Hieb continued, “Sadly, for many children in Atlantic and Cape May Counties, that home does not exist as hundreds of children suffer abuse and neglect each year and are placed in the foster care system.”

Weinberger Divorce & Family Law Group, LLC proudly supports CASA and GO BLUE day and all of our offices statewide will again be wearing our blue proudly while contributing to help CASA assist children who desperately need an advocate and a strong voice in an extremely difficult time in their lives.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Friday April 7th is the national awareness day for CASA. We strongly encourage you to show your support for CASA and join us in celebrating and supporting the work that CASA does all year. Consider donating or even volunteering to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate. Make a difference in a child’s life!
